Landscaping and property maintenance in Churchill

Churchill and Langford, two miles east, where the A38 meets the foot of the Mendips.

About 2 miles from Winscombe

The ground in Churchill

Churchill and neighbouring Langford sit at the bottom of the Mendip scarp where the hill road comes down to the A38. Gardens on the south side of the village run into the slope, and the higher ones are working with thin ground over limestone, which drains fast and grows a lawn badly in a dry summer.

Properties here run from period stone and larger detached houses with real land, through to the village estates. The larger plots are where paddock work, orchard clearance and boundary hedging come in, because more ground than one household can keep on top of is exactly the situation.

The A38 makes it quick to reach from Winscombe, which keeps travel off the price of a smaller job.

Questions from Churchill

Do you cover Churchill?

Yes. Churchill is about 2 miles from Winscombe in a straight line, well inside the 20 mile radius Tom works to.

Does a quote cost anything?

No. Tom comes out, looks at the job and gives you a price, and there is no charge and no obligation for that. If the job is not worth doing the way you have described it he will tell you that too.

Do you take on small jobs?

Yes, particularly close to Winscombe where there is no real travel on it. A gate rehung, a patio repointed, a fence panel put right. Further out a small job is harder to justify on its own, so it is worth grouping it with something bigger.

Is it you doing the work, or a team?

It is Tom Nyamunda. One person on the job from the first visit to the last barrow out, which is slower than a gang but it means the person who quoted it is the person who built it.
