Landscaping and property maintenance in Banwell

Village under Banwell Hill, a mile and a half west, where the ground tips hard in places.

About 1.6 miles from Winscombe

The ground in Banwell

Banwell is built around and up the side of Banwell Hill, and the older lanes climb steeply enough that plenty of gardens are terraced whether the owner planned it or not. Terracing that was done badly, or done a long time ago, is the common job. A retaining wall that has started to lean is telling you the drainage behind it stopped working.

The village has a lot of older stone, and stone walls fail from the top down when the coping goes. Getting water off the wall is most of the repair. The rest is matching the stone so the patch does not shout.

Below the hill the ground flattens toward the moor and the North Somerset Levels, so the same village can want a retaining wall on one street and a drainage answer on the next.

Questions from Banwell

Do you cover Banwell?

Yes. Banwell is about 1.6 miles from Winscombe in a straight line, well inside the 20 mile radius Tom works to.

Does a quote cost anything?

No. Tom comes out, looks at the job and gives you a price, and there is no charge and no obligation for that. If the job is not worth doing the way you have described it he will tell you that too.

Do you take on small jobs?

Yes, particularly close to Winscombe where there is no real travel on it. A gate rehung, a patio repointed, a fence panel put right. Further out a small job is harder to justify on its own, so it is worth grouping it with something bigger.

Is it you doing the work, or a team?

It is Tom Nyamunda. One person on the job from the first visit to the last barrow out, which is slower than a gang but it means the person who quoted it is the person who built it.
